Only 10c a week – wow!
From the goverment spin mill:
THE price of basics such as milk and other dairy products will rise by less than 10c a week under the carbon tax, the federal government claimed yesterday as it moved to calm fears the controversial policy will hammer household budgets.Treasury modelling also calculate that seafood, meat, fruit, vegetables and alcohol will only rise by 10c a week. Sorry, I simply don’t believe them. This claim is made based on modelling that is only as accurate as the input data and I just know there won’t be any worse-case scenarios entered.
Swann named worlds best treasurer:

Take what solace you can Eddy – it’s not going to be good for you guys over the next two years.
Don’t celebrate his award too much either, without Keating’s floating of the dollar and freeing up banks and Costello’s leaving him a huge surplus to throw around things would be different.
Keating was the other winner and look how he turned out.
However, it should be some consolation and something to put in his trophy cabinet when he loses his seat in a couple of years. He only got returned on Green preferences last time.
some former Euromoney Award Winners:
Euromoney 2006 Best Investment Bank – Lehman Brothers (Busted 2007)
Euromoney 2006 Best Equity House – Morgan Stanley (Bailed out 2007)
Euromoney 2006 Best at Risk Management – Bear Stearns (Busted 2007)
Euromoney 2006 Best at Investor Services – Citigroup (Bailed out 2007)
Favourable Euromoney commentary on AIG’s future, 2007 (bailed out 2007)
I didn’t go past Swann won an award, but if it is given out for fiscal management by a body with a name like EUROmoney then it can’t have much credibility given the current state of affairs in Europe, or is that a misnomer.
loses kev.
Thanks
