Revenue Raiser

Letter to the Australian
MOTORISTS have contributed $365 million to government coffers in 2007 in speeding fines on the rationale fining saves lives. So how many did fining save in 2007? Four, based on the figures of 337 killed in 2006 and 333 in 2007. That means that saving each life cost $91.25 million. Clearly the scheme is better at raising revenue than saving lives. If it wanted to save lives, it would do what is being done in other countries, painting speed limits on the road as that has been proved to cut speeds and road deaths. But that won’t happen here as it does not raise money. R.A. Marks Drouin, Vic
Good point but I can’t see any government letting this income stream go.

Why Benazir Bhuto was murdered

From the Counterterrorism Blog comes an article about the mob that Hicks fought for. Former Pakistani Prime Minster Benazir Bhutto was murdered because of herpotential actions in Pakistan, by the combined forces of jihadism in that country. In short, they executed her to pre-empt her future war of ideas. This was the bottom line and here is why
The long-term plan of the Taliban and al Qaeda in Afghanistan during the 1990s was to eventually spread to Pakistan and seize power, and, ultimately after 1999, to seize the nukes, too. Miscalculating on September 11, Osama bin Laden lost Kabul and the jihadi war room crossed into their eastern neighbor. Plan B was then to seize Waziristan and gradually Talibanize the country, grabbing the “doomsday” devices in the end.

Happy New Year

I hope the year is good for you – all of you. Christians, Muslims, Leftie Luvvies, Centrist stalwarts and Right Wing pragmatics. I’m off to tune up my bagpipes with the aim of terrorising little kids and annoying Sassenachs at the bewitching hour. For the one or two Greenies who visit these pages to see what the hell I’ll say next, it is this. The drones of the bagpipes are made from endangered and rare African Blackwood and the ivory looking fittings are just that – ivory. For PETA and other animal hugging idealists the bag is taken from a dead sheep bred to service mankind. Life is good and all things are in place. Except in Canberra where I wish the ALP a full year of being hit over the head with the reality stick. I note today the ALP Nanny state is busy with plans to censor the net. Tim Blair has an interesting discussion on the subject that is worth a read. If you’re off to a party tonight then enjoy yourselves. If not then you have my commiserations. See you next year.

Global Warming solution from South Australia

USING less energy to help combat climate change should be a new year resolution for all, South Australian Premier Mike Rann says. There could be some advantages from using less energy – cheaper bills for example, but combating climate change isn’t likely to be one of them. Even a cleaner environment is not guaranteed as using less power doesn’t automatically mean the local power grid is going to use significantly less coal. Of course, if everyone in SA stopped using power all together then the need for coal powered generators would drop but it’s still unlikely that Global Warming would slow. For that we need time. Reading Townhall.com I noticed a 10 question list that raises reasonable points that the Elders of the Church of Latter Day Alarmists are ignoring. A sample;
2) If greenhouse gasses produced by mankind are behind the roughly one degree increase in temperature over the last century, then why did the global temperature go down from roughly 1940 to 1975 even though mankind’s production of greenhouse gasses was skyrocketing during that same time period?
It’s a good read. I would recommend Mike Rann read it but I shouldn’t distract him from his current Poll problem

Natasha’s upset

Hicks is free but Natasha’s upset. The guy who supported the people who flew aeroplanes into New York City and murdered thousands of innocents; who trained with them and considers Osama a good guy; who took up military duties for the Taliban and was prepared to kill Australians and who has been released from prison because he didn’t “break an Australian law” Yep, that guy. Give me a break. The human rights lawyers and the judiciary have turned war into a court room fiasco that argues fine points of law loudly, above the screams of dying innocents. The loving father who deserted them all, his parents, his defacto, his children, his mates (if he had any) and his country to fight with the terrorists. But wait, maybe I’m being mean. He did speak of plans for a family reunion…….but the mother of Hicks’ children said she had been “left in the dark”.
.. Teenagers Terry and Bonnie are desperate to see their father but have no idea when they will finally be reunited outside prison walls, she says. Speaking through her agent Howard Whelan, Hicks’s former defacto Jodie Sparrow said they were still waiting to be contacted.
SO he’s about to be released after 6 years of incarceration and doesn’t bother to tell his defacto and kids when he will see them. Ah, the troubled course of true love and why, as an aside, does Jodie have an ‘Agent’? The Hicks mob are looking for money
DAVID Hicks’s family is looking at opportunities to skirt federal and state proceeds-of-crime laws, with publishers advising them of loopholes that would allow the confessed terrorism supporter to sell his story.
Here’s another money making idea. Hick’s face on a t-shirt. If murdering scum Che Gueverre can get his dial on a shirt then so can this idiot. Undergrads will buy them- they’ll become de rigeur at Taliban love-ins. Hicks said he recognised “the huge debt of gratitude that I owe the Australian public for getting me home”. He doesn’t owe it to the Australian people; he owes it to the left wing luvvies, human rights lawyers and to his lawyer Mori who run a good public campaign that turned a thug and terrorist into a hero.(remember the pics of the nine year old innocent) He owes it to the media, particularly the ABC/SBS/Age/SMH quartet who took his side against those who fight terrorism. He wants to go to uni and I guess he will. With a lot of the tertiary education power brokers believing he has been hard done by and considering he stuck it up the Bush and the Howard Governments he is considered a hero. I bet he gets a Luvvie Scholarship – didn’t finish high school! no worries…iffy IQ – too easy….let me write your paper for you. It aint over yet Hicks. There are a lot of Aussies who don’t like traitors.

Who’s lying now?

Breaking News on TV today. Australia’s Chief Clerk, Kevin Rudd is talking about his mad-cap scheme to send the Navy thousands of miles away to ‘monitor‘ and ‘get evidence‘ of the Japanese harpooning whales;
“We all know what the Howard Government did about whaling – nothing!”
Wow, I thought, fancy the government not doing anything – this can’t be real – is it? No, it’s not true. I Googled Howard Government+japanese whaling and come up with hundreds of hits. Sought legal advice…advised Japanese won’t accept International Court rulings on the matter….applied pressure…Howard writes letter to Japanese PM…Downer applies diplomatic pressure, etc, etc. Obviously Rudd’s staff could’ve done the same as me, or just referred to Hansard and would therefore know that the Howard Government had been applying pressure for years to get the Japanese to stop whaling so the only take I can get from Rudd’s opening line is that he is lying. Tell the lie often enough and people believe. Tell it and people, possibly even those ones who voted him in, will believe. Look at that Howard…never done anything to save those poor whales….what a bastard. Look how world savvy and compassionate Rudd is! Of course the media, being totally unbiased, picked up on it and raised the question – like hell. I’m not holding my breath for any mention tomorrow either.

Navy set to aid Greenpeace

Australia’s Chief Clerk KEVIN Rudd yesterday refused to rule out using the Royal Australian Navy to spy on the Japanese whaling fleet and collect evidence for an international court challenge against its annual hunt.
The Rudd Government has already moved to remove legal impediments to any challenge, with cabinet agreeing last week to dump the Howard government’s legal opposition to the move.
What legal opposition is that, Rudd? I think you will find the Howard Government had legal advise that they couldn’t send RAN ships out on the High seas to stop the Japanese pursuing a legal activity. How were they expected to stop them – with bofors or missiles?. Force was the only answer and it isn’t an acceptable answer. According to journalist Mathew Franklin the Howard Government failed;
The Howard administration condemned the hunt. But while it worked hard through the International Whaling Commission to prevent Japanese attempts to overturn the whaling ban, it failed to confront the Japanese fleet in Australian-controlled Antarctic waters.
It didn’t fail. it refused – any action other than keeping a watch on the Japs activities would’ve been subject to International Law. Rudd is well aware that he can’t use force to stop them thus he will have the Navy deployed thousands of miles from home on a watching brief to confirm something we already know. What’s the point of having Navy Photographers record harpooning of whales when the Japs freely admit they are doing it. All this as a sop to the Greenies after Rudd refused to put Australia’s economy on pause at the Bali ‘Green Fest’. The RAN must be rolling their eyes while they run around looking for Arctic weather gear.

Torture works

A RETIRED CIA agent has confirmed interrogators used a simulated drowning technique on an al-Qaeda suspect and admitted that the disputed method is a form of torture. Yawn! Mr Kiriakou said the method broke Zubaydah – one of the first top al-Qaeda suspects captured after the September 11, 2001 attacks – in less than 35 seconds, according to ABC.
“The next day, he told his interrogator that Allah had visited him in his cell during the night and told him to co-operate,” Mr Kiriakou said. “From that day on, he answered every question,” he said. “The threat information he provided disrupted a number of attacks, maybe dozens of attacks.”
One for the good guys. Fairly simple really. Apply some pressure,get results and save lives and yet people are still screaming. Inquiries are happening and the media are attacking Bush and the CIA What for?

Vote Recount for McEwan

THE Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) has ordered a vote recount in the federal seat of McEwen in Victoria.
The recount will begin tomorrow following a request by sitting Liberal member Fran Bailey after losing by seven votes. Three more votes emerged yesterday – two going to Ms Bailey – but the former tourism minister is still six votes in deficit and has raised concerns about the accuracy of the counting process.
