The battle is joined. John Howard has just called for the poll to be held on 9 October 2004. Lets hope that somewhere in the next 40 odd days Latham can come up with something more concrete than Lies, lies, lies and babies overboard.

‘most dangerous PM we ever had’….yet another big call. I don’t recall Whitlam ever really achieving anything of real consequence apart from the abolition of conscription. Sure, Kevin, you’re not promoting compulsory defence force service as a salve for all that ails Australia?
No. Not Defence Force service but Iv’e always advocated youth giving a year to the country. Teach indiginous kids, look after their health, help out in Sudan, teach Afghani’s how to farm, help develop Iraqs Bureau of Stats, show them how to run an election. In short export our expertise at living costs-only wages for a year with a cut in their Hex bill to encourage them. Good for humanitarian reasons, good for development of youth and good for recipients of Aussie aid.
