Lyndie’s going down
If ever there was a woman with ‘victim’ written all over her face, it is Private Lynndie England. From my reading of her life, the word was most probably endorsed on her birth certificate…if there was one.
Today’s Australian carries the story under the headline… Jail awaits the mistress of Abu Ghraib. Can anyone imagine a less likely ‘Mistress’ of anything, let alone a goal complex like Abu Ghraib.
And yet, here she is, looking down the barrel of 11 years in goal for…. umm….for being photographed standing, with a cigarette in her mouth, pointing at a man’s genitals….I think that’s what it’s all about.
I admit, the cigarette bit is worth a couple of years in today’s Nanny State society but, really what else has she done?
Humiliated and scared some people from a tribe that slits people’s throats for media supported recruiting clips for psychos to join the Jihad.
Just as well she’s not educated and a Lawyer in South Australia. She may have actually killed someone and got a $3,000 fine.
I’d hate to think she’s going down to still the braying of the anti-US media but it’s my bet that’s the case.

What would toady’s medja make of WWII p.o.w. camps, not even the Japs, but the German and the British camps. A reasonable bet, every one selected for camp duty would be working fast to secure a frontline job a.s.a.p and take the first transport out of Brit. they could stow away on.
P.O.W. camps,weren’t at all to today’s liking. I suppose a psin could be put on it: ratherlike highland boarding schools in Scotland.
Hmmm, headmasters in those fine spartan institutions, given to a fondness for ascetic habits and beatings and other cruel practices of torture and teasing and pranks, homework, and many an other non-sookie correct indulgence, might care to flee now that I’ve let the cat out of the bag.
I don’t think that what she did was a result of her just doing her job. Even if she had been ordered to do it, I doubt it would be considered a legal order.
However I don’t think that “being an embarassment” should be a punishable offence. If she’s deemed to have committed a criminal act she should be punished for that, but I can’t say I think that making someone wear a silly hood, or form a naked human pyramid is an offence worth 11 years jail.
The real crime is the supposed innocence of her superiors. Caesar judging Caesar.
No doubt al those poor victims who suffered such dreadful humiliation at the hands of Lyndie and co are now free, to carry on with dignity their normal lives, kidnapping torturing, mutilating and beheading the dreadful infidel, who have the temerity to try and improve the lives of Iraqis, and no doubt have Poor Geoff Woods, as we ponder.

I think the silly slut got what she deserved. After world war 2 we had the nuremberg trials where the most oft quoted line of defence was ‘I was simply following orders”. Now we know that is not a sufficient excuse.The excuse. The U.S. INVADED a sovereign nation, they want to put on trial the puppet Governement THEY SUPPORTED FOR DECADES, it is only fitting where ther is wrongdoing on their own side that they should face up to their criminal acts – like they failed to do after Mai Lai – and make someone pay dearly as an example to those who come later.
Kev, Nuremburg was all about murdering millions of jews. Abu Graib was all about embarrassing/humilating a few throat slitters. If you can’t see the difference you can’t contribute to the debate. Calley went to court over Mai Lai but of course the Communists shooting a couple of thousand Sth Vietnamese in the back of the neck at the side of their mass grave at Hue weeks after Mai Lai never seems to rate a mention.

Kev mate, your grasp of history is about as bad as the rest of the denizens of the U.S. which is why keep on making the same mistakes over and over. The U.S. created Saddam they bankrolled him for decades and they only decided to get rid of him when Iraq said it would no longer accept $US for their oil. The U.S lied to the UN and to the rest of the world when they invaded Iraq. The U.S also props up far worse regimes than Saddam in Saudi Arabia and elsewhere. I have complete faith in the people to get the Government they deserve. If the Germand could vote for Hitler, it is little wonder the U.S. (those of them who can be bothered to vote) can elect Bush. Sadly, the world is not a better place for your stupidity.
