Poor prop selection
Priceless …………………
Priceless! Did anyone else notice that the computer used by Kevin Rudd to illustrate his point that computers “are the toolbox of the 21st century”for his education announcement was a Toshiba Satellite 2590CDT (specifications – processor: celeron 400mhz, ram: 64mb, hard drive: 6.4gb, screen: 12.1”) vintage circa mid 90s!
from cousin-in-law Kerry
Bloody good computer! I owned one of these for about 5 years – bought it second hand ($500) – couldn’t kill it. It survived red wine (Shiraz) being spilled on the keyboard – my 2005 model Satellite didn’t.
I gave it away to a charity and last I knew it was being used by a Sudanese refugee family.
Question – name one of the few places you would find a mid-nineties laptop still being used?
Answer: A government primary school.
Unfortunately that’s exactly the type of ‘prop’ you get when you travel to a Melbourne primary school for your education announcement. An excellent example of the outdated equipment kids in government schools are using because there is nothing else. The laptop was probably donated by a parent who was upgrading to something newer.
I shot my POS Toshiba laptop with 12 gauge 00.
I wouldn’t have subjected a poor refugee family to the “blue screen of death”, I have infinitely more compassion.
The man is to quote our Texan friends, All Hat, No Cattle.
“I gave it away to a charity and last I knew it was being used by a Sudanese refugee family.”
Head tilt – isn’t the numerosity a special person…
We’re all special, Peter W… even you. Bless you my son.
