Soldiers’ binge OK: Howard
Correct response.
It happened in my time as well. I have been involved in excessive consumption of alcohol for a number of reasons – some reasonable some not. Sometimes to bury a ghost, other times in the spirit of the moment.
The difference?
We never had YouTube and the stupid inclination to brag about it, and
The Media didn’t hang around waiting for us to prove we were human and then make it front page headlines.
Look at the politically incorrect soldiers…see how they misbehave.
My thoughts:
Look at the selective reporting media….see how they emphasize negatives.
Guys, don’t film your escapades – it’s stupid and we don’t want to read about it or see it.
A soldier involved in the party explains why one of them appeared covered in a sheet, the image that brought screams of KKK from the media.
A former soldier who appears in a video of Australian troops binge drinking, with one apparently dressed as a Ku Klux Klansman, says the footage was a bucks party prank, not a racial slur. “We had a surprise made up for him so we went and pretty much kidnapped him and we needed a costume so he couldn’t find out who it was. “The cheapest way to do it was to put a bedsheet over our heads. It wasn’t in any racial terms.”Seems reasonable to me.
I think a lot of lives are going to be ruined by the ever present camera phones in the next few years. Until people realise that everything they do is being watched and filmed (very 1984) and that they will be made to pay for the sort of stuff that used to be written off as “drunk and made a crunt of himself” there will be a lot of this sort of thing.
I’m just waiting for the next step, people applying the same ‘journalistic standard’ to journalists – filming them on the turps and then asking why they haven’t been sacked for their transgressions.
First para dead right, second – when pigs fly.
Oh, I don’t expect it to be applied BY journalists, but there is nothing stopping you or I filming a journo on the turps, putting the footage on you tube and then emailing his editor and his competitors and asking if this is acceptable behaviour for a member of the press.
I think celebrities will start the trend by setting PIs with cameras onto paparazzi, with luck it will catch on.
Kev, got to agree with you, give the boys a break, they are doing a tough job that heaps of people wouldn’t do. Just shouldn’t have put it on U tube.
Yep, YouTube is stupid
Harry – I like it now I just need their Brisbane haunts
Wonderful, isn’t it.
I bunch of great Aussies who their lives on the line so we can live in peace have a bit of politically-incorrect fun (at least in the eyes of the MSM wankers) and get carpeted, but one of our “top” High Court Justices – one Michael Kirby – defends terrorists at the drop of a hat.
How about if todays Turk soldiers blew off steam by making cry baby noises like the anzacs would that be cool?
The Turks have more class than that but you’d never understand.
One of the more obvious trolling attempts I’ve seen. please put a bit more effort into trying to make it look like a genuine post, you’ll get more reaction – as it stands you are just embaressing yourself.
As a matter of interest anti, you do know that the Turks lost that war don’t you?
Soldiers behave stupidly when drunk, and hacks condemn them.
PC wankers defend and even endorse the actions of terrorists
when stone cold sober and the same hacks laud them.
Bizarre.
They are young men doing a tough job and never know what lies ahead.
Lets cut them some slack. Gosh when I
